New Areas of Service

You never know what you will be asked to do to help the National Church when you become a missionary. We never expected that we would now be serving as the Administrator/Bursar and the Deputy Principal of the new Community Health Workers Training College for the Assemblies of God here in Lae, Papua New Guinea! These are temporary roles, but we have been asked by the Superintendent of the Assemblies of God to step in and help the school during this crucial time of its infancy to get it off to a good start. We have never done anything like this before, so please pray for us, that we will be able to be helpful and that the Holy Spirit would empower us to do what we feel inadequate to do!

We hope and pray that the students who graduate from this school will be able to go into the rural areas of Papua New Guinea and not only provide health care but be an avenue where people can hear about the love of Jesus. We also hope that by helping here, we will be able to form good relationships in the government with the health authorities to find out where the needs are most crucial in the country, because the reality is that those areas are more than likely the areas that are the most unreached or under reached with the Gospel. Those are the ones that we want to be able to minister to in the future.

Nothing here is done quickly. Everything is about building relationships. This takes time. We can’t just come in and do whatever we want to do. Number one, we don’t know where to go; they do. Number two, we will not be successful in our mission if we don't have the backing of the local church here! So, we patiently prod on and serve in whatever capacity we can, praying that it will be a way to further the Kingdom here in Papua New Guinea. Please continue to pray for us; for open doors, for good relationships with the right people, for the right places to serve, for wisdom in where to go and how to get there.

Blessings,

Amy
